A little touch of history:
The X 2800 series represents a French railcar model, with the first of 119 delivered on 28 May 1957 to the Carmaux depot in the Tarn.
It stands out as the most powerful single-axle, single-engine railcar in France at the time, with a power output of 825 bhp. Specially designed to pull several trailers on difficult mountain lines, it stood out for its robustness and longevity, remaining in service from 1957 to 2009. It provided essential services, particularly on the Massif Central lines. Between 1976 and 1980, the entire series benefited from a major refurbishment programme, affecting both the exterior appearance and interior fittings, as well as various technical improvements.
