A little bit of history:
The AMX "Ghibli" single-engine ground attack aircraft was developed through collaboration between the Italian and Brazilian aerospace industries. Initially launched in the 1980s, the project was intended to succeed the Italian Air Force's old Fiat G-91Y fighter-bombers and the Brazilian Air Force's MB-326s. A distinctive feature of the AMX is its swept-back wing positioned at the top of the fuselage.
Equipped with a Rolls-Royce Spey 807 engine, the AMX can reach a maximum speed of 1,000 km/h. In its Italian version, it is equipped with a 20 mm M61 Vulcan gun and can carry an offensive load of up to 3,800 kg. The Ghibli has been deployed by Italy in various operational areas, including Afghanistan and Libya, for advanced reconnaissance missions and close support of ground troops.
