A little bit of history:
Designed by the famous engineer Rosatelli in the early 1930s, the Fiat CR.32 was powered by a 600 hp inverted-V 12-cylinder engine, enabling it to reach speeds of 375 km/h. Compared with other biplane fighters of the time, it stood out for its exceptional manoeuvrability. Robust and well armed with two Breda-Safat 12.7 mm machine guns firing through the propeller disc, it made its operational debut with the Aviazione Legionaria during the Spanish Civil War. There, it dominated the Soviet-built Polikarpov I-16 single-seat fighters used by the Republican Air Force. Thanks to its manoeuvrability and the skill of the Italian pilots, the CR.32 proved to be a formidable opponent even against more modern enemy aircraft, such as the Soviet Tupolev SB-2 bomber, reputedly invulnerable due to its speed.
