This scale model is a Z scale reproduction of a SNCF type G4 boxcar. It is offered by AZAR MODELS under the reference AZW02-SNG.
The G4 type boxcar was introduced by the SNCF from 1963. These wagons represent the last series of 2-axle boxcars produced in large quantities for the French railways. The G4 boxcar comes in three distinct versions. The first version, the G41.6, was specially designed for transporting livestock. The second version, the G4.2 or G40.2, was designed for general goods transport. Finally, the third version, the G69.6, is specifically adapted for transporting fresh produce and early fruit and vegetables. These different variants of the G4 boxcar meet the specific needs of transporting a wide range of goods. They have played an essential role in the French rail network, ensuring the efficient and safe transfer of different categories of goods.
