A little touch of history :
The "Ligne Impériale" locomotive 2D2 9100 connected Paristo Marseille, traversing the Mediterranean coastvia Lyon.
Designed to be express locomotives, these machines reached a maximum speed of 140 kilometres per hour, with a traction force of 900 tonnes.
The SNCF initially ordered 35 locomotivesin 1950, but the series was later to reach 100 units.
Despite a relatively modern appearance, the design of these locomotives dates back to the 1920s.
They were quickly replaced by the more modern CC 7100 series locomotives, fitted with smallerand lighter enginesreplacing the expensive and delicate Buchli engine used on the 2D2 9100.
Despite this, the 2D2 9100 locomotives continued to be in service until the 1980s.
