A touch of history:
One of the most revolutionary Formula 1 single-seaters of all time, the ground-effect Lotus 79 stood out as the benchmark in 1978. In 1979, however, it was surpassed, and the season proved far more challenging. The iconic black and gold JPS livery gave way to a new aesthetic, with a green livery adorned with Martini stripes, as well as additional support from Tissot watches. At the US Western Grand Prix, Mario Andretti put in a solid performance to finish fourth, just behind the two dominant Ferraris and Alan Jones' Williams.
