History of the model:
The series MDVE ( Medie Distanze Vestiboli Estremi) passenger coaches were put into service on Italian railways by FS (Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane). They were cbuilt in the 1980s with the aim of serving interregional rail services.
The MDVE type passenger coaches were built after the MDVC series, this is an improved version based on a similar base to the previous models, but with a lower manufacturing cost.
The interior fittings of these models are almost identical, they are split into two zones separated by cross-panels of 10mm-thick crystal laminate. These zones have been designed to separate smokers from non-smokers.
This is why the Italian brand Vitrains, took the initiative of designing thea series MDVE and MDVC in miniature under HO scale: 1/87th, which you can find on ourwebsite, Jura Modélisme.
