This real-life model from LS Models is an HO-scale reproduction of a Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) dining car. This rolling stock ran on the Swiss rail network in the 1970s. It was a type of carriage standardised by the International Union of Railways in the 1960s. This model of carriage, known as the UIC-X, was purchased by various European railway companies. This rolling stock can be found in Germany and Austria. In this case, it's a delivery of a CFF dining car. This miniature wagon reproduces many of the characteristic features of the original, such as the pantograph, the silver roof, the red walls and the service entrances. The interior furnishings have also been finely reproduced.
The UIC-X passenger carriages are based on railway vehicles manufactured by Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) after 1945. This standard is used by various railway companies in Europe. Switzerland placed several orders for almost 400 wagons of this type from 1966 onwards. The order included 10 UIC-X WRm dining cars, numbered 000 009. This equipment was built in 1967, by Waggon und Maschinenbau GmbH Donauwörth, a German construction company that has now disappeared.
