Type X or UIC-X cars are a type of railway car that has been standardised by the International Union of Railways.
Types X and Y were defined in 1961 in UIC bulletin 567, followed by the current type Z. This standardisation allows equipment from different networks to be used in international trains. One of the innovations supported by these standards was the use of rubber buffers instead of intercirculation bellows.
