This train set includes two HO scale reproductions of PLM steel tombereau wagons with 4 doors. It is offered by REE Modèles as part number WB-812.
The freight cars registered SL 114597 and SL 114502 were specially designed to carry bulk materials such as gravel, coal, ore and similar loads. Equipped with four doors, these dumper wagons made it easy to unload their contents. They were mainly used by the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM). Founded in 1857, PLM was one of France's leading railway companies at the time. Its extensive network of railway lines linked Paris to Lyon and the Mediterranean, with branches serving destinations such as Marseille, Nice, Geneva, Montpellier and other major cities. The company was renowned for its luxury passenger trains, such as the Orient-Express and the Train Bleu, which linked Paris with international and tourist destinations. In addition to the tombereau wagons used to transport bulk materials, PLM employed various types of wagon to carry a variety of goods. In 1938, PLM finally merged with other French rail companies to form the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF), which is the national rail operator in France today.
