A little history:
From 1971, the Deutsche Bundesbahn put 398 locomotives of the 218 series into service and used them in front of passenger and freight trains. They are used on most non-electrified routes and can reach a top speed of 140 km/h with a power output of 1,840 kW. Locomotives are currently still in service at the Ulm, Kempten and Mühldorf am Inn locations.
