Jouef offers a Container wagon type Sgss with 45' container "P&O FerryMasters", in scale HO 1/87th, under reference 6240, which has the following characteristics:
- Freight wagon type Sgss put into service by the SNCF company during period VI.
- Plastic models, running on 2-rail DC.
- curve radius: 356.5 mm.
A little history:
These wagons are intended for the transport of containers and swap bodies.
The meaning of the characteristic letters of the Sgss wagon is "S" for a special type flat wagon with bogies, "g" for a wagon used solely for the transport of containers, and "ss" for a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The wagon comes in the form of the single chassis fitted with railway safety features (shock absorbers at the ends of the wagon, braking system) and markings for positioning the swap body.
These wagons, referred to by the SNCF as type S68.6 flat wagons, were built in 300 examples in 1970/1971. They are fitted with Y25D bogies limited to 120 km/h.
These wagons are only used on long-distance block trains between multimodal platforms (CNC or Novatrans) specially equipped for handling swap bodies. Vertical loading and unloading operations are carried out by gripping the bodies using tongs adapted to the characteristics of the swap bodies. The swap bodies are decorated in the colours of Novatrans' customers.
Presentation of the manufacturer Jouef:
The model railway brand originating from France, Jouef, was founded in 1944 by Georges Huard. One of the largest factories designing model trains JOUEF was based in Champagnole, just 30 minutes from our Jura Modélisme company. Now Jouef has belonged to the Hornby group since October 2004.
The brand is characterised by their eye for detail and robustness, which are mainly designed from moulded plastic under the HO: 1/87th scale.
Jouef produces all types of railway equipment (wagons, carriages, power cars) from different eras (I, II, III, IV, V or even VI).
