SNCF mirlitons warn the driver of a train that he is about to approach a signal with reduced visibility. One mirliton is placed 100 metres before it a second and a third may also be placed further upstream, set at a distance of 100 metres from each other.
On lines with speeds of up to 60 km/h, a single mirliton with a single black band is used. On lines with speeds between 60 km/h and 120 km/h, two mirlitons are set up : one with one and the other with two black stripes. On lines with speeds greater than 120 km/h, three mirlitons are implanted upstream of the signal, with one, two and three black stripes respectively.

To improve the realism, you can:
- Thin the sign using fine sandpaper.
- Paint the back of the sign.
