Tank wagon presentation,
Tank wagons were used to transport liquid products. In the early years of the railway, the need to transport liquid materials was important. This is why wagons called "tank wagons" had a chassis on which one or more tanks were placed.
It was in 1859, that the French industrial engineer, "Louis-Xavier Gargan" was invented the "tank wagons" where he filed a patent on 23 July 1859.
From 1918 tank wagons began to specialise according to their use.
There are many adapted models, such as:
- oil tanker
- chemical tanker
- liquefied gas transport
- calorifuged (with preheating equipment)
- bifoudre (for wine transport)
