A little history:
A total of 250 of these vans were built between 1927 and 1929 for the MIDI company .
201 of them were metallised between 1953 and 1959 (replacement of the wooden body by a metal one).
They were assigned to the South-West and Mediterranean regions, but also ran in neighbouring regions in the West and South-East.
At a time when baggage service was important, one could see 1, 2, 3 or even 4 of them in the long, heavy rapids of the time.
Very popular, 10 of them received high-power braking enabling them to run at 150km/h. They were used on "Le Capitole" from its creation in 1960 until 1967 (when the speed was raised to 200km/h with a set of red UIC cars)
The activity of these trains was significantly reduced from 1975, when a majority of trains were authorised to run at 160km/h. They continued to operate on small express, mail and baggage trains. The last of them disappeared in 1987.
