This model train is a reproduction of the model railroad brand JOUEF (reference HJ2407). It is a replica of the SNCF 140 C 362 steam locomotive. This scale model is designed to run on an HO scale miniature rail network. The livery of this loco dates from Era III. It reflects the style of trains that ran between 1941 and 1970, until the last steam trains disappeared. This miniature locomotive is ideal for completing a layout, the theme of which is post-war France or the Trente-Glorieuses.
This beautiful reproduction is inspired by the black and green livery of SNCF steam locomotive 140 C 362 fitted with tender 18 C 550. This machine is part of a fine series of motors built in France and Great Britain at the beginning of the 20th century. Its tender can take 18 m3 of water and 9 tonnes of coal. The first models entered service in 1913. The last locomotive of this type was overhauled in 1975. This rolling stock owes its extraordinary longevity to its sturdiness and low running costs. This model of locomotive is particularly popular with railways such as SNCF, as it can run on difficult lines. In fact, the French army ordered 70 of them during the First World War to pull artillery pieces. During the Second World War, they were requisitioned by the occupying forces, only to be returned after the armistice.
Depending on the period and the region in which they were used, 140 C locomotives changed their appearance. This scaled-down model perfectly reproduces the appearance of one of these steam locos, as it was operated by SCNF in the East and West of France after 1946. The metal boiler of theminiature locomotive, adorned with gold fillets, is particularly realistic.
