The short story:
For shunting passenger and freight wagons in stations, the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) quickly opted for the use of smaller shunting locomotives. A further development of the Köf 11, with an additional driving axle and cardan drive, was presented by Gmeinder in 1965. A total of 251 examples of these locomotives, originally signed Köf 12, were first delivered to the German Federal Railways and formed the 333 series.
.With a view to optimising staffing levels, a large proportion of these locomotives were fitted with a radio remote control system from the late 1980s. These machines were then registered under the 335 series. It should be noted that some of these small locomotives were still in service with the Bahnbau Gruppe after 2010.
