How does a turntable work?
The turntable is a track apparatus allowing locomotives to turn back. In fact, it consists of a tank topped by a railway bridge that rotates 360° on an axis. In reality, it is usually located near a rotunda, where railwaymen store the rolling stock after shunting. This device was used as far back as the steam train era to turn motors unidirectional in depots or terminus stations. Originally, the turntables were not motorised and turning was carried out manually. Small in diameter, they could take the form of a plate, which still earns them the nickname "turntable" in railway circles today railways.
Only digital control with Mobile Station 2 and Central Station 2 and 3 (not included).
Particularly convenient control with Central Station 2 and 3 thanks to track preselection or with various digital control units in DCC format.
Optimise the space in your layout
A swing bridge is also very useful in a rail operating game. In fact, as soon as a network is designed, the model builder is faced with the problem of space management. The space available quickly becomes a constraint, even a limit. What's more, electric train enthusiasts are often forced to scale back their ambitions, by removing tracks from their ideal layout. In this context, this swing bridge is a clever solution for replacing a turning loop and, ultimately, saving space. Placed in a slide, it will make it much easier to bring your scenario play to fruition.
Useable with transition track reference 24922 for K track and transition track reference 24951 for M track.
