A little touch of history:
The BB 75000 diesel-electric locomotives, ordered by SNCF in 2004 for freight to modernise its ageing fleet, offer an intermediate power of around 2,000 kW.Similar in silhouette to the BB 27000, they are the result of a collaboration between Alstom and Siemens, each incorporating elements from pre-existing series (ER20 for Siemens and Prima for Alstom).
The initial order comprises 300 units, scheduled for delivery from 2007, with an option for a further 100 machines depending on the economic climate, representing a total investment of 1 billion euros.
