A little touch of history:
The BB 37000 locomotives, from Alstom's Prima family, include the BB 27000, BB 27300 and E 37500 models, and are assigned to SNCF's Freight business or leased to Akiem. Their introduction led to the withdrawal of the BB 20200.
These locomotives are equipped with the 6 FRA 4567 asynchronous motor and adopt a central EUDD (EUropean Drivers Desk) type driver's cab, complying with a European standard facilitating driver training and the interoperability of equipment between European railway companies. They are dual-current and triple-voltage, capable of operating at 1.5 kV continuous, 25 kV at 50 Hz and 15 kV at 16 2/3 Hz. Powered by four 6 FRA 4567 squirrel-cage asynchronous motors with forced ventilation, these locomotives reach speeds of up to 140 km/h.
The transformers used to adjust the current to the traction motors were manufactured by the Tarbes transformer factory following an order from Alstom.
