This product is a model train from the Arnold model railway brand (reference HN2481). This is a very neat reproduction of an SNCF Mistral steam locomotive. It is registered 141 R 1173. This model is designed to run on an N-scale miniature rail network. This style of rolling stock is typical of the Trente Glorieuses period in France, when the last steam locomotives were retired in the 1970s. This replica will provide a real addition to an electric train circuit whose atmosphere is inspired by this period (III).
The Mistral was an SNCF express train that ran between Paris and Nice from 1950 to 1982, before the arrival of the first TGVs. With electrification of the French network incomplete after the Second World War, this legendary train was hauled by a type 141 R steam locomotive until the late 1960s. France ordered 1,340 of these machines from the United States. With their high-capacity tender, they were used for passenger transport on all the country's main lines. They also carried freight. Very robust, they were much appreciated by railway workers. The last examples were withdrawn from circulation in 1974.
