A little touch of history:
The BB 26000, also known by the nickname "Sybic" (a contraction of "Synchrone" and "Bicourant"), form a series of electric locomotives of the SNCF. Currently, alongside their BB 36000 counterparts, they are the most powerful locomotives in service with the SNCF.
These machines have considerable power at both 1.5 kV continuous and 25 kV at 50 Hz. Their design is aimed at towing a passenger train weighing up to 750 tonnes (made up of 16 carriages) at a speed of 200 km/h on a ramp of 2.5 ‰. In addition, they are capable of towing a freight train weighing up to 2050 tonnes at a speed of 80 km/h on a ramp of 8.8‰.
