The Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français BB 7290 electric locomotive has a number of distinctive features:
- Registration numbers are engraved on the side panels and numbers are glued to the front panels.
- It is specially designed for running Talgo trains in France, fitted with special red-coloured parts on the buffers.
- This model offers a remarkable level of detail with finely detailed parts, some of which are made of metal and can be plugged in separately.
- The running boards are openwork, offering a realistic appearance.
- The pantographs are filigree designed for an elegant appearance.
- In digital mode, the long-range lights, horn and parking light can be activated, with the option of activating the front or rear lights separately.
From 1976, SNCF incorporated 237 BB 7200 general-purpose locomotives into its fleet, intended for use on the French DC network. The distinctive design of these locomotives, recognisable by their "broken nose", was the brainchild of French designer Paul Arzens. Some of these locomotives were fitted with special buffers to pull "Talgo III RD" variable gauge trains, identifiable by the red paint applied to the body of the buffers.
