A little touch of history:
The French CC 6500 single-current locomotives marked the heyday of rail technology from the 1970s onwards, standing out as the most powerful of their era. Belonging to a large family of locomotives, commonly known as the "Nez cassés", these machines were delivered from 1964 to 1999 in France and throughout the world. Inheriting the characteristics of the CC 40100 and CC 72000, notably with the use of the same bogies as the CC 72000, the CC 6500 share the same body structure as the CC 72000 and CC 21000.
Originally designed by Paul Arzens, these locomotives sported a distinctive metallic grey, Capitole red and orange livery, harmonised with the Grand Confort coaches to make up some of the SNCF's French TEE flagship trains of the time. Arzens called this decoration the "coup de soleil livery". The CC 6500s thus represent a successful convergence of elaborate aesthetics and exceptional performance, leaving a lasting imprint on railway history.
