This scale model is an HO-scale reproduction of an SNCF ex-PLM 4-door tombereau wagon. It is offered by REE Modèles under the reference WB-822.
Between 1857 and 1938, the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM) operated an extensive network linking the country's Mediterranean regions with Paris and Lyon. When the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF) was created in 1937, PLM was merged with this new entity, enabling the SNCF to acquire PLM's specialist wagons. These wagons were specially designed for transporting various bulk goods, including coal, gravel, sand and many others. What made them special was their lowered walls and doors, which made loading and unloading goods much easier. Today, these wagons bear witness to the heritage of the PLM and its role in the development of the French rail network.
