History of the TGV Atlantique and its world record:
The train is without a doubt, the richest and most fascinating means of transport historically speaking! Even today, the TGV is the symbol of French technology. In fact, 18 May 1990 was a memorable day, when this train set a speed record of 513.5 kph. This model would shatter the last record set in 1981.
This poster pays tribute to this event, using the dominant grey colour, reminiscent of its original livery.
Alstom or Alsthom?
For the record, Alstom was once part of the Alcatel-Alsthom group.
Originally Als-Thom, a contraction between "Alsace" and "Thomson" later became Alsthom in 1932. Then Alsthom Atlantique in 1976, GEC-Alsthom in 1989 and finally Alstom since 1998.
