This scale model is an HO scale reproduction of a PLM sheet metal grey tombereau wagon with black fittings registered S114367. It is offered by REE Modèles under the reference WB-816.
Thedumper wagonregistered S114367 was designed to transport bulk materials, such as gravel, coal, ore, etc. These open-top wagons were equipped with four doors making it much easier to unload their contents. They were mainly used by the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM), one of France's leading railway companies at the time. Founded in 1857, PLM operated a vast network of railway lines linking Paris to Lyon and the Mediterranean, with major branches to destinations such as Marseille, Nice, Geneva, Montpellier and other major cities. To accommodate a wide variety of goods, PLM used a variety of wagons, including tombereau wagons. In 1938, PLM merged with other French railway companies to form Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF), which today operates as the national rail operator in France.
