This model is an HO scale replica of a 4-door tombereau wagon of the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris et Lyon et la Méditerranacute;e (PLM). It is offered by REE Modèles under the reference WB-813.
The wagon à tombereau immatriculare; TT225093 était conçu for transporting bulk materials, such as gravel, coal, ore, etc. These open-top wagons were equipped with four doors, making it much easier to unload their contents. They were used by the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris, Lyon and the Mediterranean (PLM), one of France's leading railway companies at the time. Founded in 1857, PLM operated a vast network of railway lines linking Paris, Lyon and the Mediterranean, with major branches to destinations such as Marseille, Nice, Geneva, Montpellier and other major cities. To accommodate a wide variety of goods, PLM used a variety of railcars, including tombereau wagons. In 1938, PLM merged with other French rail companies to form the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF), which today operates as the national rail operator in France.
