A little touch of history:
The BB 67400 diesel-electric locomotive series consists of 232 examples manufactured by Brissonneau et Lotz (BL) and Matériel de traction électrique (MTE) on behalf of SNCF. The order was placed on 6 January 1967, and the first locomotive was put into service on 14 August 1969 at the Chambéry depot.
These locomotives are designed to operate in multiple units (MU) with other machines in the same series and the 67300 series. In addition, they are suitable for reversibility for passenger trains. They are closely derived from the BB 67000 locomotives.
