A bit of history:
ThisREE model train is a scale model of a catering carof the Bacalan type, as it was between 1946 and 1949. In fact, this rolling stock put into service by the PLM in the early 1930s underwent numerous updates, particularly when the Paris Lyon Méditerranée company was nationalised.
The Bacalan cars were designed by Dyle et Bacalan, a Bordeaux manufacturer, in conjunction with the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans, which wanted all-metal vehicles. This new model quickly attracted the attention of PLM, which ordered 185 of them for its long-distance trains. The coaches had 11 compartments and were exclusively for third class. Fifteen examples were quickly converted into restaurant cars to complete PLM's fleet. This miniature wagon has been marked third class, buffet car and SNCF logo since PLM was nationalised in 1938.
