A little history:
The Bacalan carriages were put into service in the early 1930s. At the time, the PLM company ordered 185 of them from the manufacturer Dyle et Bacalan, based in Bordeaux. The metal bodies of these rail vehicles were riveted, a distinctive feature throughout their career. With a length of 22.750 m, they were extremely robust. At the beginning of the 1980s, 50 years after they were built, there were still 89 examples in circulation. 12 models were converted into restaurant cars, known as B3r.
