A bit of history:
This reduced model from REE Modèles (ref. REVB368) is a reproduction of a French railway vehicle that spanned the 20th century. In fact, the Bacalan C11myfi passenger carriage plied the PLM and then SNCF networks for more than 50 years. This HO scale model perfectly reproduces the line of this rolling stock built to last.
The so-called Bacalan carriages came out of the workshops of the Bordeaux manufacturer Dyle et Bacala in the 1930s. They were designed by OCEM with the aim of correcting certain problems with thevehicles of the time, including the rapid corrosion of the underbody. The PLM company ordered 185 passenger carriages of this type. They were put into service between 1929 and 1931. Measuring over 22 metres in length, they were named Bacalan C11, C for third class, 11 for the number of compartments. Their name changed in 1956 when third class disappeared on SCNF lines - the company had been operating this rolling stock since PLM was nationalised in 1938.
