- This scale model from the brand REE Modèles (reference VB376) is inspired by a railway vehicle that graced the SNCF in the second half of the 20th century. Indeed, the Bacalan passenger carriage is a great French rail classic, designed and manufactured in France in the 1930s. This HO-scale miniature wagon finely reproduces the general lines of this vehicle, as well as its interior furnishings. Let yourself be seduced by this very subtle model.
A bit of history:
Bacalan cars originated in the Bordeaux region between the wars. They owe their name to the manufacturer who built them, the Dyle et Bacalan workshop. This type of rolling stock can be recognised by the visible rivets that dot its passenger compartment. Brought into service in the early 1930s, 89 examples were still in circulation in the early 1980s, a sign of their robustness. The last models were retired in 1986. Of the 185 vehicles originally delivered, twelve were converted into dining cars, then named B3r.
