A Touch of History:
The new flat railway and the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) have changed the requirements of freight transport in Switzerland. Multi-system locomotives are needed for continuous traction from the North Sea to Italy. This increase in efficiency was implemented in 2017 when SBB Cargo International leased Vectron MS locomotives from Viennese leasing company ELL Austria GmbH.
