This product is a model train from the Arnold model railway brand (reference HN2481S). This is a very neat reproduction of an SNCF Mistral steam locomotive. This example is registered 141 R 1173. This scale model is designed to run on a N scale miniature rail network. This style of rolling stock is characteristic of the Trente Glorieuses in France, where the last steam locomotives were retired in the 1970s. This replica will add a real plus to an electric train circuit whose atmosphere is inspired by this period (III).
The Mistral was an express train of the SNCF that ran between Paris and Nice from 1950 to 1982, before the arrival of the first TGVs. With electrification of the French network incomplete after the Second World War, this legendary train was hauled by a type 141 R steam locomotive until the late 1960s. France ordered 1,340 of these machines from the United States. With their high-capacity tender, they were used for passenger transport on all the country's main lines. They also carried freight. Very robust, they were much appreciated by railway workers. The last examples were withdrawn from circulation in 1974.
