This Roco-branded (réf. 70031) reproduction is a very detailed version of the 03 1050 express steam locomotive. It represents the state of service of this machine around 1957. The vehicle was then operated by the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB), the national railway company of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) - it disappeared after the unification of Germany in 1989.
The first locomotive of series 03.10 left the factory in December 1938. It was built by Borsig, a German railway vehicle manufacturer. Of the 60 machines manufactured before the war, 45 were still in operation after 1945. They were then repaired by Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB), which used them extensively to pull fast trains. Due to premature wear of the boiler, they received a new, more modern one after 1957. This model re-equips the loco with this new boiler.
