This model from the Roco brand is a replica of the HO scale of a steam locomotive operated in the early 20th century by the BB;a steam locomotive operated at the beginning of the 20th century by the BB, the Austrian Federal Railways. The 310 series locomotives are a technological innovation developed in 1908 by the Austrian engineer Karl Gölsdorf (1801-1916). This locomotive designer is best known for inventing the radial-slip coupled axle, also known as the Gölsdorf axle. This made it possible to optimise the weight of locomotives at a time when they were particularly massive. Type 310 steam locomotives entered service in 1911. They were initially operated by the k.k. Staatsbahnen (kkStB), the railway company of the Austrian state of the period. They were assigned to passenger train services, mainly on the Northern lines, such as between Vienna and Salzburg. Then, with the disappearance of the k.k. Staatsbahnen, it became part of the uml;sterreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) from 1923. This model reproduces the state of service of the locomotive in this era.
