This model is an HO scale replica of a Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) 288 002-9 double diesel locomotive.It is offered by Roco under reference 70115.
Between 1941 and 1942, the German Wehrmacht added four double traction locomotives to its fleet, specifically designed to transport heavy artillery pieces on the railways. These locomotives, known as the D 311, entered service at the time. After the war, the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) bought back two of these locomotives, named V 188 001 a/b and V 188 002 a/b. They were mainly used for heavy goods trains and shunting, particularly on the Spessart gradient. A third locomotive was used as a source of spare parts. Unfortunately, due to damage to the generator, locomotive V 188 001 was withdrawn from service from 1968. V 188 002 continued to operate in the Franconian region until 1972. However, in 1973, both machines were dismantled and scrapped.
