This model is an HO scale reproduction of a Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) 221 series heavy diesel locomotive. It is offered by Märklin under the reference 37824. The manufacturer was inspired by the state of service of this loco in 1985.
The V 200.1 series, renamed BR 221 from 1968, was a development of the V 200.0 series. The first locomotive of this type was delivered to the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) in 1962. This universal locomotive produced 2,700 horsepower, enabling it to pull a wide variety of trains, such as the express trains of the Vogelfluglinie and the legendary Black Forest train.
