A little history:
In the 1960s, the Deutsche Bundesbahn saw the construction of the E 03 series, which at the time represented the most powerful electric locomotive designed for passenger train transport. Between 1970 and 1974, a total of 145 locomotives from this series were assembled and officially designated as the 103.1 series. In terms of aesthetics, the 103 series locomotives are still considered to be among the most attractive electric locomotives today. It should be noted that these locomotives were equipped with scissor pantographs until company number 215.
