A little touch of history :
The BB 222000 is a series of electric locomotives affiliated to the SNCF intended for traction on the 1.5 kV direct current network and the 25 kV 50Hz alternating current network. The "broken nose" comes from French engineer Paul Arzens, who was responsible for the design of several SNCF locomotives at the time.
Between 1976 and 1986, the Alstom company built a total of 205 locomotives in 6 series. Thanks to its multi-system capability and universal design, the BB 22200 can be put into service on virtually all standard gauge electrified lines in France, alongside freight and passenger trains.
