800tonnes is a manufacturer offering a magnificent TGV 001 experimental turbotrain poster, with dimensions A2 (42.0 x 59.4 cm) under reference 8TTGV001.
Nothing better than this leaflet, to lift your passion for model railroading to the top!
History of the TGV 001:
Designed in collaboration by the SNCF company and the Alsthom company, this project was brought to fruition with the aim of exploring the speed range between 250 and 300 km/h to subsequently create a network of high-speed lines.
The TGV 001 was subsequently listed as a "Historic Monument".
This trainset still holds the world rail speed record in autonomous traction with a speed of 318 km/h held on 8 December 1972. This concept was the culmination of research into high rail speeds, covering technical aspects such as traction, vehicle dynamic behaviour, braking, aerodynamics and signalling.
However, as a result of the oil crisis in 1974, the use of RTGs required far too much fuel resources and became less and less profitable in the face of electric traction (which led to the TGV we know today).
Two examples can still be seen: TDu 001 on display beside the A4 motorway near Schiltigheim-Bischheim. And TDu 002 on display beside the A36 motorway near Belfort-Glacis du Château.
