A little history:
TheBacalan carriages were designed in the 1930s by OCEM, in collaboration with Ateliers Dyle & Bacalan in Bordeaux. The first prototypes were intended to remedy the corrosion problems of the passenger carriages of the time. Based on the conclusive results of these studies, the Compagnie Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (PLM) ordered 184 examples, which distinguished themselves by their extraordinary longevity. In service from 1929 to 1931, the Bacalan coaches spanned the 20th century. The last models were overhauled in 1986. Passed into the hands of the SNCF, the appearance of the rolling stock has changed over time. Originally made up of 11 compartments, it can be seen again in the first Corail trains.
